Iran director to receive Stockholm award

The multi-award winning Iranian director and screenwriter Asghar Farhadi is to receive visionary award at Stockholm Filmfest in Sweden.   

The two-time Oscar winner is one of several artists to be honored with Stockholm Visionary Award during the 29th Stockholm Film Festival next month.

The selection of this year's edition consists of 159 movies from 60 countries and will also include some celebrated titles.  

The festival has commended Iran director saying that “Farhadi’s masterful and sensitive cinematographic language makes him a visionary filmmaker and elevates him to the rank of international master of cinema”. 

Asghar Farhadi will visit the festival with his latest film 'Everybody Knows' starring Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem.

He will also participate in a face-to-face conversation in conjunction with the screening of 'Everybody Knows' on November 9th at Skandia Movie Theater in Stockholm.

Iran great director won his first Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film with 'A Separation' in 2012.

In 2017, 'The Salesman' brought him the second Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

Farhadi’s latest film 'Everybody Knows' premiered at 2018 edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

The 29th edition of the annual gathering will kick off on November 7, 2018 in Sweden.

The Stockholm International Film Festival will wrap on November 18th.
